The NHL Players’ Assn. on Friday released a schedule for players’ salary arbitration hearings. A hearing for Kings forward Brad Richardson is scheduled for July 21 and a hearing for defenseman Alec Martinez is scheduled July 27.

A hearing for Ducks winger Dan Sexton was scheduled for Aug. 4.

All hearings take place in Toronto.

Any player can come to terms with his team on a new contract before the scheduled hearing, and many do.

When a hearing takes place, an award must be made within 48 hours. The team can accept the arbitrator’s decision or walk away. If the team walks away the player can declare himself an unrestricted free agent.
