Kings’ Martinez and Richardson, Ducks’ Sexton file for salary arbitration

Kings defenseman Alec Martinez and forward Brad Richardson and Ducks right wing Dan Sexton were among the 23 NHL players who have elected salary arbitration.

The NHL Players’ Assn. announced the list on Tuesday.

Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to Aug. 4, but players who have filed for arbitration can reach agreements with their respective clubs before their scheduled hearing.

Martinez had five goals and 16 points in 60 games as a rookie last season and averaged 15 minutes and 16 seconds’ ice time. His salary cap hit was $875,000. Richardson, a utility forward, had seven goals and 19 points in 68 games while averaging 11:45. His salary cap hit was $900,000.

Sexton had four goals and 13 points in 47 games while averaging 11:35. His salary cap hit was $750,000.
