Yankees GM Brian Cashman on Angels: 'I think they look down on us'

October 14, 2009 | 10:48 am

Cashman We've heard plenty of stuff about how the Red Sox were in the Angels' heads and how the Angels are in the Yankees' heads. This stuff almost always comes from fans, broadcasters and writers. Never from the general manager of one of the teams -- until today, when Yankees GM Brian Cashman offered these intriguing comments on the Fox Sports website. The Yankees play the Angels in the American League Championship Series.

"To be honest, I think they look down on us," Cashman said. "They've had their way with us for some time, and now we have something to prove to them. It's not the other way around.

"I think the Angels feared the Red Sox, but they don't fear us. I think they're happy they're playing us."
