Braced-lets go from straight teeth to fun summer accessory

If you’re like me and wore braces for two and a half years, then the sight of those metal brackets and fluorescent rubber bands might induce a panic attack and memories of sore gums and soup. But seeing the orthodontic material in the form of Braced-lets isn’t nearly as bad -- in fact these new little bracelets make the best out of a mouth full of metal and gummy bands.
Braced-lets were created by New York dentists Marc Lemchen, Jennifer Salzer, and Salzer’s sister Lisa, designer of the Lulu Frost jewelry line. They’ve combined the stretchy power chains typically wound around the brackets of braces with individual metal brackets and colored little bands to make various funky color combinations with pops of neon, a look that’s so popular right now and works especially well for summer.
Braced-lets, available at www.bracedlets.com, are $4.99 apiece, making them affordable to stack up your forearm and mix in with more pricey bracelets and bangles.
They look much more chic on the wrist than they did on my teeth.
