Joe Mauer engaged: Twins catcher proposes to Maddie Bisanz
Was your Christmas wish "I want to be engaged to Twins catcher Joe Mauer"? Well, unless your name is Maddie Bisanz, your wish probably won't come true.
Mauer proposed to Bisanz while the couple was in Florida. The two have known each other since high school.
"I was hoping for a yes, and she said yes," Mauer told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I'm getting to marry my best friend."
This is considered huge news in Minnesota, because Mauer is a former AL MVP and the centerpiece of the Twins franchise. Also because it's Minnesota, and there's nothing to do there except live your life vicariously through local sports stars.
No wedding date has been set. I'll let you do your own jokes on how, when they couple has a baby one day, they hope for twins.
Hopefully Mauer's marriage will outlast the marriage of fellow Minnesotan Kris Humphries.
