Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon introduced the world to twins Monroe and Moroccan on Friday during a “20/20” interview with Barbara Walters.

The segment gave fans a first-time look at “Dem Babies” (a nickname bestowed by mom and dad) and details on Mariah’s difficult pregnancy.

The 6-month olds, known as Roc and Roe, were dressed in their Sunday best for the big reveal. During Barbara’s nursery visit she even got to hold little Roc, while proud mama Mariah sang “We Belong Together.”

Bringing the babes into the world was no small feat. Mariah told Barbara she did have fertility treatments, including progesterone before and during her pregnancy to reduce the chance of another miscarriage.

Once she conceived, the risks increased. “I don’t think I understood the enormity and the magnitude of what it really does to your body,” Carey said. “Carrying two babies. Unless somebody’s been through it, it’s difficult to understand what I went through, because my pregnancy was very unique in terms of what happened to me.”

What happened? Carey suffered from gestational diabetes and was at risk for seizures. She was also on bed rest, experienced false labor pains and made multiple trips to the hospital.

The babies were born at 35 weeks on the couple’s third wedding anniversary, April 30, to the live version of Mariah’s hit song “Fantasy.” Nick played delivery room deejay during his wife’s C section. “I wanted them to hear the applause,” Carey confessed.

Now, the May-December couple couldn’t be happier.

“My family gives me everything,” Cannon confessed. “Unconditional love means … the world to me. I mean, it’s completion.”

“It’s just love,” Carey added. “It’s a beautiful place to be.”
