Jon Cryer stays true to form after Emmy nod for ‘Men’

Jon Cryer on Thursday picked up his sixth Emmy nomination for supporting-actor work on an obscure little sitcom called ‘Two and a Half Men.’
However, those judging solely by his reaction to the nod -- and perhaps living under a rock since late last year -- might think this is the brightest spotlight he’s faced in a long time.
‘In a year when nothing much has happened on our show and you could barely find a word about me or my co-stars on the internet,’ the wry Cryer offered in a statement, via Radar Online, ‘it is lovely to be recognized by the Academy in this way!’

The whole Charlie Sheen meltdown? ‘Two and a Half Men’ production being put on hold? Ashton Kutcher taking over the lead role amid rumors that Charlie Harper would be dying a very-dead death at the start of next season? Shoot -- we’d totally forgotten!
Kinda like someone apparently forgot to get the previously nominated Sheen’s name submitted to the Emmy Awards folks in time for consideration? Though we suppose he was rather busy back in April.
In classic and classy Cryer fashion, there’s nothing to see here, folks -- at least until the Sept. 18 ceremony, when we’ll learn if the usually-not-under-arrest actor and 2009 Emmy winner will take home his second prime-time trophy. His competition includes Chris Colfer of ‘Glee’, and last year’s Emmy winner, Eric Stonestreet of ‘Modern Family.’
Nothing to see here, actually, as long as we all forget to watch Comedy Central’s Sheen roast set to air a week earlier, right after the Kutcher-Cryer-Angus T. Jones incarnation of ‘Two and a Half Men’ hits the small screen.
