Gisele Bundchen wants an international breastfeeding law [polls]

Gisele-bundchen Gisele Bundchen has revealed her secret for getting back into supermodel shape mere minutes after giving birth -- and it's breastfeeding! Moreover, she had such success with it, she thinks there ought to be a law.

"Some people here [in the U.S.] think they don't have to breastfeed," she told Harper's Bazaar UK, excerpted by the Daily Mail, "and I think, 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?' I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."

Oh my, we could get into trouble with this post.

Let's ignore the cattiness about how many people will never be able to get into runway-bikini shape mere weeks after giving birth, even if they take advantage of the magic of breastfeeding.

Let's not open the debate on breast milk vs. formula and the pressure on women to breastfeed no matter what.

Let's ignore the rather heady discussion of reconciling foreign and international laws with U.S. constitutional law.

And please, let's ignore the jokes about how many people, infant or not, would sign up to participate.

That leaves us with -- Bundchen had a baby with Tom Brady. She gave birth at home. She meditated and did kung fu beforehand to prepare.

OK, the post is done. Except for the nonscientific online polls.

When supermodels speak, people listen. Kinda. But maybe with one iPod earbud still in their other ear.

Some women call tabloids trash in articles where they splay their butt cheeks in trashy assless jeans.

Some women who advocate for babies health, support a man in abandoning a pregnant woman where stress hormones harmful to growing baby.

Some women build gigantic mansions, constanly fly around the country, world, take flying lessons while advocating for the enviroment and telling other to lower carbon footprint.

Some women live in bubbles where they are surrounded by people who depend on her for their livelihood so everything she says, does, and farts is pure magic and she thinks the whole world is sitting with baited breath so receive just a morsel of her divine wisdom.

We're waiting alright ..because we all need a good laugh once and awhile.

Way to go! I totally agree with her. I think women should have to breastfeed their babies for at least 6 months! I think formula is totally disgusting! You have no idea what you are feeding your precious baby! Look at all those babies in China last year who died from formula! Breast milk is the perfect food, always the right temperature and there is no fussing about getting bottles ready in the middle of the night!

Whoa! First of all breastfeeding doesn't work for everybody in getting their body back, Second, there are a lot of women out there that can't breastfeed for medical reasons or whatever else. If you are really going to argue the whole "chemicals in formula" then there needs to be a lot of other laws made before that one. Once again Gisele opens her mouth and a bunch of crap comes out of it

I'm the first to advocate breastfeeding because it is clearly the best first nutrition for an infant. But a law for mandatory breastfeeding?? How can such a law be enforced? The Breastfeeding Police? I appreciate Miss Bundchen's POV, but she should stick to modeling and forget about trying to use her social position as a platform for her views on anything other than making clothes look good.

She is an idiot. First she says that her stepson is 100% hers (highly disrespectful to his BIRTH mother), now this. Women in the real world have all kinds of legitimate reasons they can not breastfeed and she has no right to judge them, let alone punish them for it. Do everyone a favor. Look pretty and shut up.
