Stargazing has been easy lately, but it has had nothing to do with the weather and everything to do with an influx of red carpets and shutterbugs.
While the cinematic giants were toasted at the Oscars on Sunday, the little guys had their own party with the Independent Spirit Awards on Friday.

Backstage, Elle magazine hosted its own fashionable viewing party with Smashbox cosmetics. ‘Twilight’ gal Rachelle Lefevre turned up, as did ‘True Blood’ hottie Ryan Kwanten, Laura Dern, Emile Hirsch, Vera Farmiga and Elle creative director Joe Zee.

Next door, On 3 Productions hosted the awards’ official presenters gift lounge, which saw the likes of Gabourey Sidibe, Jeremy Renner, Johnny Weir, Olivia Wilde and Sherri Shepherd.

The nominees received goodies such as LG’s Kompressor vacuum, delights from the Fage Yogurt Bar, a year of free movies from AMC Entertainment and face and body products from the Body Shop.

And before the movie hype got started, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences hosted an evening with the cast of ‘Modern Family.’ Among the highlights: star Julie Bowen turned 40, and fellow cast members and the audience all pitched in to sing -- including Ty Burrell, Sofia Vergara and Ed O’Neill.
