Charlie Sheen enters rehab 'as a preventative measure' [Updated]
Charlie Sheen is taking time off from "Two and a Half Men" and checking into a rehab facility "as a preventative measure," according to a statement from his publicist Stan Rosenfield, who says that's all we're going to hear about it.
Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, switched rehab facilities Monday after allegations that her privacy had been breached at the Canyons, where she'd been since earlier this month. TMZ said it was among the outlets to have received leaked paperwork with details about her admission.
[Updated at 2:45 p.m.: The couple's twin sons are with their mom, TMZ reports, "along with the nannies and a counselor" at a private home in the L.A. area that offers specialized private rehab treatment. ]
Child protective services workers checked on the couple's twin boys Sunday in what Rosenfield said was a routine follow-up visit on behalf of case workers in Aspen, Colo.
On Sunday night, Sheen turned out to see his dad, Martin Sheen, onstage in "The Subject Was Roses" at the Mark Taper Forum.
The younger Sheen popped gum throughout the show -- as in, partook of a lot of it, not "cracking" it -- and though he posed for pictures backstage with his family, he skipped the opening night party afterward.

[For the record, 3:43 p.m.: A previous version of this post said child protective services workers had checked on the Sheen children Monday. That visit took place Sunday. Add, 5:13 p.m. Also, clarifying language has been added regarding Sheen's gum-chewing. The devil's in the details./cdz]

Who has the kids? Your article says, "the couple's twin sons are with their mon". In rehab? She took the kids to rehab? That's like the earliest start ever for the Sheen family, isn't it? Life in the fast lane. Surely make you lose your mind.

"Charlie Sheen popped gum during the performance" This is such a digusting habit that i have only ever seen in America. I see both men and women doing it on the subway in New York and personally I find it comparable with spitting.

Wouldn't this be prehab?

@EAB -- Christie D'Zurilla here from the blog. Re the gum reference -- he wasn't "cracking" gum but rather popping piece after piece like you'd pop a piece of candy into your mouth. Sorry to be misleading.
