Come celebrate pie, in all its glory
Everyone loves pie, but there may be no one who loves it more than Evan Kleiman. For the third year in a row, the Angeli Caffe owner and host of KCRW's "Good Food" is sponsoring a summer pie contest. The finals will be at the L.A. County Museum of Art on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
More than 220 pies have been entered in the contest and they’ll be baked fresh and dropped off that day. Judges are an all-star cast including pastry chefs Roxanna Jullapat, Zoe Nathan and Karen Hatfield, chefs Eric Greenspan, Kris Morningstar, Jet Tila and Sang Yoon and the odd blacksheep, such as myself.
Come by to cheer on your favorite contestant, and then sample about as much pie as any reasonable person can hold.
