First Take: Whitman's busy fundraising plans. Obama vows more help for Boxer.

The Assembly Rules Committee will consider the nomination of Abel Maldonado for lieutenant governor today. Maldonado's nomination is expected to come up before the full Assembly on Thursday.

Meg Whitman is preparing for a big fundraising week, touring the state with Mitt Romney and bringing along some other Republican heavyweights.

President Obama has scheduled another fundraising trip to help Sen. Barbara Boxer.

The federal healthcare fight comes to the Legislature this week as the Assembly hears a measure that would implement a key piece of the federal plan.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared to rule out one job in particular after he leaves office.
