JERUSALEM -- At least three Israeli tourists were killed Wednesday and 20 others were injured after an explosion ripped apart their tour bus shortly after it arrived in the Bulgarian resort city of Burgas, Israeli officials and media said.

According to one report from Bulgarian television, as many as seven people may have died in the blast.

Israeli and Bulgarian security officials are investigating whether the explosion was a terrorist attack. Some witnesses reported seeing a suicide bomber board the bus as it was parked at the airport.

No group immediately claimed responsibility.

Israeli medics were dispatched to the country to assist with treating the victims, Israeli media reported.

Earlier this year, Israel warned citizens about a possible terrorist attack being plotted against Israelis in Bulgaria and advised them to avoid travel to the country or use caution.

Burgas, which is on the Black Sea coast, is a favorite summer vacation destination for Israelis.
