REPORTING FROM WASHINGTON -- A Yemeni diplomat said Sunday that government officials had identified two people killed along with two American citizens linked to Al Qaeda during a U.S. drone strike in northern Yemen on Friday.

The dead did not include Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula-linked bomb maker Ibrahim Hassan Asiri, as some news reports had indicated, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the operation.

The official declined to give the names of the two individuals killed in the airstrike. Also killed were Anwar Awlaki, a U.S.-born Muslim cleric, and Samir Khan, an American citizen who published an online magazine that gave instructions on how to launch attacks inside the U.S.
