Mayor Gavin Newsom is again donning his low-brow cap, sunglasses and gambler’s cigar to wager another bit of San Francisco pride on the outcome of a baseball series.

Fresh from a successful bet with Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed on the outcome of the recent Giants-Braves playoff series -- with Reed compelled to fly the Giants flag above Atlanta City Hall as a result -- Newsom is doubling down with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on a similar call. The Giants face the Phillies in the NL Championship Series.

Gavin Newsom tweeted Friday:

Made a wager w PHL Mayor @Michael_Nutter on the NLCS! Loser wears winning team cap at upcoming events to support our veterans. Go @sfgiants!

Michael Nutter, meanwhile, is going all in. He replied:

@GavinNewsom I accept your challenge. Go #Phillies!

Remember, there’s no cash at stake here. Only pride. And perhaps diamonds.
