Christine O’Donnell is not a witch. She’s you. And just like you she got spoofed on Saturday Night Live this weekend to wild applause.

It was such a funny parody that NBC.com is calling their jab at the Delaware senate hopeful their Video Clip of the Day. It even got a thumbs up from O’Donnell on her Twitter account Sunday morning, when the candidate admitted that SNL cast member Kristin Wiig’s wig looked better than the ‘tea party’ darling’s real hair.

AS with all great comedy, there are some pearls of wisdom in the Wiig monologue that the candidate may want to embrace.

‘I’m you. And, just like you, I have to constantly deny that I’m a witch,’ Wiig said in her impersonation. ‘Isn’t that what the people of Delaware deserve? A candidate who promises, first and foremost, that she’s not a witch? That’s the kind of candidate Delaware hasn’t had since 1692. And that’s why, if elected to the Human Senate, I promise to fly straight down to Washington... on a plane! And do exactly what you would do: Not spells. Besides, if I were a witch, why wouldn’t I just cast a spell making all of you forget that I’m a witch?’

Now that’s the sort of silly argument that a silly accusation deserves.
