Schwarzenegger (governor of California): This decision affirms the full legal protections and safeguards I believe everyone deserves:

villaraigosa (mayor of Los Angeles): Californians knows that marriage is a civil right, not a privilege. Love does not discriminate. #prop8

JerryBrown2010 (attorney general of California, Democratic nominee for governor): It's official! Great News for California! California gay marriage ban overturned!

GavinNewsom (mayor of San Francisco): The federal court has struck down Prop 8! A major victory for equal rights & for thousands of committed couples, families & friends in CA.

jaredpolis (Rep. Jared Polis of Colorado): Marriage re-legalized for all in CA!!!! #no8

SenGillibrand (Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand [D-N.Y.]): A true victory for #equality! V pleased Judge Walker has found #Prop8 to be unconstitutional.

SenatorPavley (Calif. state Sen. Fran Pavley): Judge strikes down discriminatory Prop 8! Congrats to Chad Griffin who skillfully and successfully fought for = justice under the law 4 all!

RepDianaDeGette (Rep. Colo.): I applaud California for upholding the rights of all Americans. A true victory for equality. #prop8

RepMikeHonda (Rep. Calif.): Victory for equal rights, Judge overturns #Prop8 Gay Marriage Ban! "Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights"
