7:15 p.m.: Another way a president’s speech is like the Oscars: he is deluged with requests for autographs on his way out.

Members of Congress are thrusting their printed copies of President Obama’s speech at him to sign. He is mobbed! Someone invites him to a game of golf, but Obama demurs, saying, ‘My golf game is terrible.’
