Remember Larry Craig, that toe-tapping Idaho Republican senator with the wide stance, who said he intended to resign Sept. 30 when he was arrested in an airport men’s room for soliciting sex but denied he was gay or had ever been gay?

Well, here it is Oct. 2 and he’s not yet former Sen. Craig. Is he still reconsidering?

‘Sen. Craig continues to work for Idaho in the Senate,’ a Craig spokesman told MSNBC. ‘I don’t expect another announcement on his future in the Senate until after the judge rules on his case in Minnesota.’

You may have heard around the water cooler that Craig is trying to overturn his disorderly conduct guilty plea, a tough thing to do, according to legal experts, since you must have signed a document saying you actually really truly are guilty before the plea is accepted. The judge heard the plea overturn request last week and may rule as early as this week.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s office says it’s standing by its previous opinion that Craig’s resignation was the right choice and has heard nothing about him changing his mind.

Meanwhile, in other public lavatory news, Minneapolis airport authorities have decided to install new stall dividers in two of the airport’s 80 men’s rooms, including the now-infamous Craig bathroom, where frequent sexual contacts have been reported. The new dividers will go almost to the floor, making waving and other activities more difficult.
