A fundraiser with foreign roots -- businessman Norman Hsu, a Hong Kong native -- has emerged as the political headache that simply won’t go away for Hillary Clinton. Aside from the case’s specifics, it resurrects memories of the fundraising irregularities that surrounded Bill Clinton‘s 1996 reelection campaign -- problems that included illegal donations from foreign sources.

Still, presidential campaigns have an insatiable appetite for money. And that may lead the former president overseas to fuel his wife’s bid for the White House. Planning is underway, the BBC reports, for Bill Clinton to headline a fundraiser targeting American citizens living in Ireland.

The story also intriguingly notes that Barack Obama -- he of biracial parentage -- ‘has ancestral links to Monegall, County Tipperary.’ But it says it is ‘not clear’ whether the Obama campaign is intending to look there for money.

Maybe Oprah can make it happen.
