Boys’ basketball: Brandon Boyd’s three-pointer gives Alemany OT win

Brandon Boyd made a three-pointer with one second left in overtime on Tuesday to give Alemany a 62-60 win over Fairfax in a first-round game of the Maranatha tournament.

Shacquille Dawkins had 20 points and Boyd 18 for Alemany. Donald Gipson led Fairfax with 19 points and 18 rebounds.

Sophomore Lonzo Ball contributed 14 points and 20 rebounds in Chino Hills’ 65-50 win over Price. Bishop Mency added 19 points.

Maranatha defeated Crenshaw, 64-46, behind Zach Smalley who had 11 points.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated St. John Bosco, 67-51. Joey Covarrubias finished with 24 points. Ray Knight had 17 points for St. John Bosco.

Wednesday’s championship schedule has Calabasas playing Loyola at 8 p.m. and Brentwood facing Campbell Hall at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday’s championship schedule has Alemany playing Cantwell at 6:30 p.m. and Maranatha facing Chino Hills at 8 p.m.
