Former Lake Balboa Birmingham left-hander Edgar Olmos made his major-league debut on Monday for the Miami Marlins, allowing one hit in 1 1/3 innings of relief in a loss to the Phillies.

He was clocked at 98 mph.

Coach Matt Mowry remembers Olmos weighing 169 pounds at Birmingham, where he graduated from in 2008. He’s now 215 pounds. His parents were at the game. His father works as a gardener at Birmingham.
