Mike Cordero, who guided Agoura to consecutive Marmonte League baseball championships, has been hired as the baseball coach at Loyola, Athletic Director Chris O’Donnell confirmed on Wednesday.

He’ll take over a Loyola program that made it to the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals and shared the Mission League title last season with Division 1 champion Harvard-Westlake.

He inherits three returning pitchers already committed to Pac-12 schools _ Nathan Hadley (UCLA), Quinn Brodey (Stanford) and Kyle Beadles (Arizona).

Cordero, 32, who attended L.A. Cathedral, said going to Loyola ‘is like coming home.’ He will be returning to his Catholic school roots.

He said he watched Loyola play several times last season. ‘Pitching is the key. There’s a lot of potential there,’ he said.
