A roller coaster season continues for Los Angeles Loyola.

Weeks ago, the Cubs were told that their head coach, Brian Felten, would not be returning at the conclusion of the season. Then the Cubs ran off 12 consecutive victories and were on the verge of an outright Mission League championship.

But they were swept by Chaminade last week and ended up in a first-place tie. Word came out that Felten was arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of spousal abuse, and he wasn’t allowed to coach in the final regular season game.

The school has made the decision Felten won’t be coaching on Thursday in Loyola’s Division 1 playoff opener against visiting Canyon Country Canyon, according to Athletic Director Chris O’Donnell. Cooper Bergdahl will take over as the interim coach.
