If high school basketball has become a guard’s game, then Pacific Hills is the team to watch.

Led by its three future college guards, the Bruins knocked off top-seeded Gardena Serra, 53-50, on Tuesday night to advance to the CIF Southern California Division IV championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Ontario Colony against Bishop Montgomery. The winner will play the Northern California representative in the state championship game.

Washington-bound Jahmel Taylor scored 18 points, Rice-bound Marcus Jackson had 11 points and junior Namon Wright scored 10 points.

Pacific Hills is 27-4 and will face a tough challenge against a much taller Bishop Montgomery team. But the Bruins have shown they can adapt, and if their guards are making shots and staying out of foul trouble, beware.
