What can you say about the Trinity League?

Simply, it’s the best.

All six teams are still alive in the Southern Section boys’ basketball playoffs.

The league, well known for its strength in football and baseball, is more than just about Santa Ana Mater Dei. Because the Southern Section allows basketball teams to be placed in playoff divisions based on enrollment and past performance, there could be multiple champions from the Trinity League.

In 1AA, Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran have reached the second round. In 3A, Bellflower St. John Bosco is in the quarterfinals. In 3AA, Santa Margarita is in the quarterfinals. In 3AAA, Anheim Servite is in the quarterfinals. In 4AA, JSerra is in the quarterfinals.

Five Mission League teams are also still alive. That’s 11 private schools when combining the Trinity and Mission leagues.

The balance of power in basketball has changed. And, as long as teams are not in the same playoff division, Trinity League teams are going to have a huge impact on who wins a championship.
