One of the better matchups in Orange County this evening figures to be the Trinity League showdown between Santa Ana Mater Dei and Bellflower St. John Bosco at Santa Ana Stadium. The winner moves into sole possession of first place in league.

Mater Dei jumped five positions to 10th in The Times’ Top 25 rankings this week after defeating former #1 Santa Margarita, 24-7, at Saddleback College. The Monarchs (6-1, 2-0) have benefited from playing a tough schedule, their only defeat coming by one point to Los Angeles City Section favorite Harbor City Narbonne.

St. John Bosco moved from eighth to ninth in The Times’ poll after squeaking by San Juan Capistrano JSerra 44-41 in overtime last week. The Braves (3-4, 2-0) are undefeated on the field but had to forfeit their first four games for using an ineligible player.

Kickoff is 45 minutes away. Stay logged on for scoring updates throughout the contest.

In tonight’s other Trinity League action, #22 Orange Lutheran (6-1, 1-1) will host #11 Santa Margarita (6-1, 1-1) at Orange Coast College and JSerra (5-2, 0-2) will host reigning champion Anaheim Servite (2-5, 0-2) at Saddleback College.
