The state championship track teams from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (boys) and Gardena Serra (girls) were given VIP treatment Tuesday, flying to Sacramento to meet Gov. Jerry Brown while receiving a tour, greetings and salutes from state politicians.

‘It was cool,’ Notre Dame track Coach Joe McNab said.

McNab said the 74-year-old Brown challenged several of the athletes ‘to do pull-ups because he has a pull-up bar in his office.’
