Last Friday marked the first day college basketball coaches could send unlimited text messages to juniors and seniors in high school, and West Hills Chaminade 6-foot-8 junior Jack Williams received a text message at 12:01 a.m. from Northern Arizona.

‘We’re texting you at 12:01 because we want you to be a Lumberjack,’ was the message Williams received.

And there was this: ‘Our mascot already has your name in it: Lumber-’Jack.’’

Assistant coaches capable of writing witty text messages will be much in demand.
