Track & Field: Long Beach Poly girls lead at Mt. SAC

Long Beach Poly’s Kymber Payne, Traci Hicks, Tierney Russel and Tori Myers won the Invitational girls 4x100 shuttle relay in 57.91 seconds at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut. Clovis West came in second place in 1:04.50 and Ventura was third in 1:04.94.

The relay victory was worth 20 points and moved the Jackrabbits into first place in the overall team competition with 36 points, four ahead of second-place Studio City Harvard-Westlake.

Long Beach Wilson was second in the girls 4x100 shuttle relay seeded race, clocking 1:07.48.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s foursome of Brandon Jett, Aidan Elias, Kyle Ause and Kyle Barrett won the Invitational boys 4x110 shuttle hurdles in 1:02.11, edging Murrieta Valley (1:02.73) and Long Beach Poly (1:03.17). Long Beach Wilson won the seeded race in 1:03.69.

Gardena won the Open boys 4x100 relay in 44.30 seconds and Redlands won the Open girls 4x100 relay in 49.04.

Temecula Great Oak’s Jade Miller took first place in the girls Invitational 300 hurdles in 42.14 seconds and Wolfpack teammate Martiesha Caines won the seeded hurdles in 44.18, edging Carson’s Dayna Hurd by 11 hundredths of a second.

Jarrett Gonzales of La Verne Damien took first in the boys Invitational 300 hurdles in 37.31, topping Riverside Ramona’s Zach Lewis by a mere five hundredths of a second. Bryan Garcia of Arroyo Valley won the boys 300 seeded hurdles in 38.14.

Los Angeles Loyola leads the boys team competition with 28 points, followed by Rancho Cucamonga (23). Notre Dame and Damien are tied for third with 20 points apiece.
