Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei leading at halftime

The sixth and final game of the day is shaping up to be perhaps the best. Santa Ana Mater Dei leads Sacramento Sheldon 33-27 at halftime in the CIF Division I state final at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento.

Guard Katin Reinhardt leads all scorers with 16 points and fellow senior Xavier Johnson has seven for the defending champion Monarchs, who have outscored Sheldon by three points in each of the first two quarters.

Kyiron Thomas has 11 points for the Sac-Joaquin Section champion Huskies, who are out-rebounding Mater Dei 25-18 but made just two of 15 shots in the second quarter.
