Malibu High, located a short walk from the beach, has more than just surfers on its campus. The baseball team is 8-2 and just beat Oaks Christian, 16-8, in a Tri-Valley League game.

Jordan Simon went five for five with four RBIs and four stolen bases. He was eight for 10 in a two-game series against the Lions.

Coach Ari Jacobs has been trying to get the Sharks to perform well and things are starting to fall into place. They won their division of the Southern California Invitational to start the season, and any win over Oaks Christian gives them a boost in confidence.

They also have high hopes for sophomore shortstop/closer Chase Lambert, who’s considered a pro prospect.

So the surfing is still big in Malibu, but they can play a little baseball, too.
