Football: City Section semifinals should be outstanding

The City Section Division I semifinals are full of intrigue and shape up as exciting matchups.
San Pedro and Carson get a rematch of their Marine League game won by San Pedro, 21-0. The Pirates are 12-0 and have won their first two playoff games without two-way standout Michael Whitt, who is expected back Friday.
Their defense shut down Crenshaw, and quarterback Kenny Potter had an 81-yard run. Carson has become a run-first team. Roger Jones picked up 276 yards rushing and four touchdowns against Venice.
Air Asante has been scrapped for Ground Asante, but Carson Coach Elijah Asante had better figure out how to move the ball against the stingy Pirates.
The other semifinal game will end the debate about who deserved to be the No. 2 seed behind San Pedro. No. 3 Dorsey plays at No. 2 Narbonne. It will be a great defense against a great offense. Don’t ask me who wins that battle.
Dorsey defensive end Jeremiah Allison has 22 sacks, and asked if he can get to Narbonne’s mobile Troy Williams, Allison said, “I’m going to get to him.”
Narbonne rolled up 624 yards in total offense in a 59-20 win over West Adams. Williams passed for four touchdowns and ran for two TDs. Perhaps the key for Dorsey is an improving offense. Jaydon Mickens scored three touchdowns for the Dons.
