Jack McDowell, who was a standout pitcher for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in the 1980s, went on to Stanford and became a Cy Young Award winner in the major leagues, is in his first season as baseball coach at San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas.

McDowell didn’t exactly get along with umpires as a player because he was so competitive, but I’m sure maturity has set it.
