The City Section Division I quarterfinals on Tuesday offer huge rewards. The winners not only advance to Friday’s semifinal doubleheader at USC’s Galen Center but also earn automatic berths to the state Division I playoffs.

Two of the games can be considered tossups. Palisades at Crenshaw matches two schools with lots of ambitions and aspirations but neither has demonstrated very much consistency.

‘At times we can be good,’ Palisades Coach James Paleno.

Crenshaw also can be good and has two All-City players in Isaac Hamilton and Darnell Taylor.

The winner will finally earn some respect.

Then there’s Dorsey at Washington. Washington went unbeaten in the Marine League, but Dorsey has been heading to peak form. Can the Dons handle Washington’s full-court press?

The other two games don’t figure to be close. Top-seeded Woodland Hills Taft is heavily favored to knock off Reseda Cleveland at home, and Westchester is a heavy favorite to defeat Fairfax at home.
