I was at the first Westlake-St. Bonaventure game this season that ended in a double overtime, with St. Bonaventure winning, 32-31.

I see no reason why the second meeting set for Friday will be any less dramatic. The stakes, though, are much higher. It will be a Northern Division semifinal game.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but it has been changed to Friday for television. Westlake is the home team but it’s doubtful the game will be played at Westlake. Moorpark High or Moorpark College has more seats.

Can Westlake’s offensive line protect quarterback Nick Isham? Can Westlake’s defensive line find a way to get past St. Bonaventure’s dominant offensive line? Can St. Bonaventure cover Nelson Spruce? Can Westlake’s secondary make amends for its mistakes in the first meeting? Can St. Bonaventure junior quarterback Marc Evans continue to look like a future Pac-10 player?

The other semifinal Friday matching Oaks Christian and host Valencia should produce lots of offense, but I believe the winner of Westlake-St. Bonaventure will be celebrating a championship in another week.
