Defending Pac-5 Division champion Anaheim Servite opened its season Thursday night with a 31-7 victory over Oceanside, ending the Pirates’ 39-game unbeaten streak.

The big star for Servite was defensive lineman Jody Thomas, who had two interceptions and scooped up a fumble for a nine-yard touchdown.

‘Obviously, we need to move Jody Thomas to defensive back,’ Coach Troy Thomas said. ‘He’s leading the CIF in interceptions.’

The Friars took advantage of six turnovers and made four interceptions.
