After months of chemotherapy, former Corona Santiago pitcher Nick Hurtado is undergoing surgery Monday to remove a tumor in his right knee and insert a steel rod in his femur as he continues his recovery.

He made one pitch this past season, then went to the sideline to begin his treatments. Players, teammates, fans and classmates have been supporting him along the way.
