Baseball: Reibenspies has big day for Chaminade

Shortstop Tanner Reibenspies delivered again and again for West Hills Chaminade on Saturday in the Redondo tournament against San Pedro. He had a double and home run to spark a 3-2 win over the Pirates.

Chaminade (18-4) has won 13 of its last 14 games and knocked off one of the best pitchers in the City Section in John Mata. Brandon Katz, Sam Mercer and Ray Kim limited San Pedro to three hits.

Christian Lopez threw a complete game, striking out seven and walking none, and Steven Karkenny went three for three to lift Chatsworth (18-3) past Harbor City Narbonne, 3-1, in the Chatsworth tournament. Woodland Hills El Camino Real (11-11) defeated Bell, 13-3, in six innings. Ivan Vela had three hits and three RBIs.

Taft defeated Santa Monica, 10-2, in the Redondo tournament. Cody deSpain hit a three-run home run, his sixth of the season. Art Chavez was three for three and had a two-run home run.

La Mirada defeated Simi Valley Royal, 15-5, scoring 11 runs in the third inning. Nicko Lancaster and Ray Chacon each hit home runs for La Mirada (14-8).

Arleta (18-4) defeated Birmingham, 7-4. Ivan Ceja (6-3) threw the complete game. Javy Lopez had two hits. Sylmar defeated Reseda Cleveland, 9-2. David Lira improved to 5-0 in San Fernando’s 10-1 win over North Hollywood.

North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake defeated St. Paul, 7-5. Freshman Casey Rosenfeld had two hits and two RBIs.
