Girls’ basketball: Mater Dei and Brea Olinda will have a rematch

Mater Dei won its Southern California Regional Division II semifinal against Hanford, 70-61.

And in the other Division II semifinal, Brea Olinda beat Oakhurst Yosemite, 68-46.

Let the fun begin.

Brea Olinda, ranked No. 2 in the nation by Maxpreps, and No. 3 Mater Dei will meet on March 20 at USC in what will surely be one of the best basketball games of the year.

Brea Olinda won last year’s Regional final against Mater Dei, 44-38, and the Ladycats beat the Monarchs this season at the Tony Matson Memorial Classic, 47-43.
