Boys' basketball: Season ends for Verdugo Hills

March 11, 2010 |  9:51 pm

One of the great stories this season has been Verdugo Hills, which won its first league title since 1959 and won its first City Section Division III title.

But the Dons' season ended Thursday night in the Division III playoffs. Ocean View knocked off the Dons, 65-53, behind Anthony Brown, who scored 29 points, and Avery Johnson, who had 24.

Verdugo Hills (25-8) hardly embarrassed itself. Nick Brown had 25 points and 11 rebounds. Chris Dees had 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sam Colmenero had 10 assists.

And I think the Coach of the Year is Verdugo Hills' Jared Gibson.
