Taft forward De’Andre Daniels started to really assert himself in the third quarter, scoring 10 points to help the Toreadors forge a 56-56 tie against top-seeded Mater Dei going into the fourth quarter of their Southern California Division I regional semifinal.

Gary Franklin Jr. had seven points in the quarter for the Monarchs, who are hoping to avoid having their season end against a L.A. City Section team on their home court for a second consecutive season.
