La Puente Bishop Amat and pitcher Paul Paez knocked Simi Valley Royal from the unbeaten ranks on Saturday with a 6-0 victory.
Bishop Amat improved to 10-1 while Royal dropped to 10-1. Paez struck out nine in six innings. He now has beaten Palm Desert, Capistrano Valley, Chatsworth and Royal, all of whom were in The Times’ preseason top 25 rankings.
