One of the great individual duels has been Austin Kelly of North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake going against Miles Cartwright of Los Angeles Loyola. The two senior guards are ready for their final meeting tonight at Loyola in a Mission League game for first place.

Both were supposed to become teammates next season at Pennsylvania, but Kelly is no longer committed to Pennsylvania and is hoping to end up at another school. He is 12-0 playing for the Wolverines this season after coming back from off-season knee surgery that still has left him not playing at 100%.

‘He hasn’t played at full capacity yet,’ Coach Greg Hilliard said. ‘He’s still struggling to have faith in his knee. He’s healthy.’

Kelly had 19 points Wednesday against Alemany, so perhaps he has regained his confidence.

As for Cartwright, he’s averaging 15 points for the Cubs (19-1) and usually plays his best in big games.

Loyola is ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division 1A. Harvard-Westlake (16-4), a winner of 14 consecutive games, is ranked No. 3 in 3A.
