There will be no shortage of Southern California baseball stars on hand when the Area Code Games commence Wednesday at Blair Field in Long Beach.

The Californians will play on a pair of teams--Milwaukee Brewers Blue and Milwaukee Brewers Gray--competing among the eight vying to impress scouts and college coaches.

The Milwaukee Brewers Gray is led by Maranatha pitcher Dylan Covey and Royal pitcher Cody Buckel. Crespi’s Ryon Healy and Mater Dei’s Cory Hahn should provide ample power among the hitters.

The Milwaukee Brewers Blue features Austin Wilson, a dynamic outfielder from Harvard-Westlake, as well as Redlands East Valley pitcher Tyler Shreve and Marina third baseman Chad Lewis.

The Brewers Blue open play Thursday against the Oakland Athletics (stocked with high school stars from the Southeast) at 8:30 a.m., with the Gray taking on the New York Yankees (featuring some of the best players from the Northeast) at 11:30 a.m.
