Fifth-ranked Chatsworth showed Tuesday why it’s the team to beat in the West Valley League with a 10-0, six-inning victory over El Camino Real.

Pitching, defense and timely hitting were all prominent. Mike Renner limited the Conquistadores (6-3) to three hits, striking out four and walking none.

Kasey Toven had two doubles and a single for Chatsworth.

The big disappointment for El Camino Real was the failure of its top senior pitcher, Michael Booth, to perform at a top level. He has been recovering from shoulder problems and clearly needs more outings to return to the form of a year ago, when he was one of the best in the West Valley.

The two teams play again Thursday at El Camino Real. Sophomore Jose Cardona will get the start on the mound for El Camino Real.

In other West Valley League games Tuesday, Cleveland rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Taft, 7-6, in eight innings on a bases-loaded walk that scored Spencer Horowitz. Granada Hills defeated Birmingham, 11-2.
