Football: Inglewood's Evans commits to Notre Dame

November 7, 2008 |  9:39 am

Shaquelle Evans of Inglewood, rated among the top receivers in the nation, announced Friday he has committed to Notre Dame.

Evans, known for his big-play ability, also considered USC. His decision adds to the success of Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis in recruiting players from Southern California.

Weis has already taken away quarterback Jimmy Clausen from Oaks Christian, quarterback Dayne Crist from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, tight end Joseph Fauria from Crespi and linebacker Anthony McDonald from Notre Dame. He has a commitment from Santa Clara running back Cierre Wood and defensive back Marlon Pollard from Cajon.
