I never received visual or verbal confirmation of his presence Friday night, but it turns out that UCLA football Coach Rick Neuheisel did make it out to Rancho Cucamonga to see the Los Osos-Bishop Amat contest.

Neuheisel visited two games by helicopter during his Week 0 recruitment tour.

However, his plan to use the Los Osos HS softball field as a landing pad didn’t fly with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, which forced him to land at nearby Ontario Airport. He managed to catch the closing minutes of the game despite having to drive to the high school like the rest of us mortals.

The weird thing is that Los Osos Coach Tom Martinez and UCLA-commit Richard Brehaut still hadn’t talked to or seen Neuheisel at least 10 minutes after the Grizzlies’ 24-20 victory. Maybe all that buzzing around the Southland forced Neuheisel to make a pit stop for some carne asada from the snack bar.
