Got an interesting story to share with everyone. But first things first. It needs to be known that I had one tough time tracking down Cezar Guerrero for this blog because the highly regarded sophomore, who played at St. John Bosco last year, has been doing his share of traveling this summer to various camps and showcases.

Anyway, I was finally able to get ahold of Guerrero through his older brother, Joe, a stand-up guy who’s keeping a watchful eye on his impressionable sibling. And it’s a good thing too, given all the attention Cezar, aka CJ, has been receiving lately, some good, some bad. He even has his own highlight reel on YouTube.

‘He has been there for me since Day 1,’’ Cezar said of Joe, an All-City selection when he graduated from Huntington Park in 1994. ‘My brother blocks out a lot of the negativity, a lot of the haters. He keeps me level-headed, which is good for me because things are happening fast, a lot faster than I ever expected.’’

Recruiting services such as Rivals.com and Scout.com rank the 5-foot-11 point guard as one the best players in the nation among the 2011 class. Cezar has been in contact with several Pac-10 Conference programs already -- most notably Arizona, UCLA and USC -- and Joe has been there every step of the way.

‘Yeah, I’ve been getting a lot of attention lately. It’s a crazy, big world out there,’’ Cezar said. ‘I’m getting letters from different schools all the time, but no offers yet. I’m glad my brother worries about that stuff so I can focus on getting better out on the court. That’s the only thing important to me right now.’’
