Sorry about the late notice, but there’s going to be one heck of a softball game at Newhall Park this afternoon. Hart will attempt to break Valencia‘s string of seven consecutive Foothill League titles when the Division I title contenders meet up for the final time in the regular season.

If Hart wins, the Indians will clinch their first outright league title since 2000. If Valencia wins, it’ll probably finish as co-champions with Hart.

Usually, I like to predict a winner in games like this, but I really have no idea who’s going to win today. Obviously, there’s going to be another pitching duel between Hart’s Destiny Rodino and Valencia’s Jessica Spigner, pictured, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it took extra innings to decide this one.

Of course, if someone comes up to bat in the seventh inning and smacks one over the center-field fence like Heather Stiglich did in the first meeting, maybe everybody can get home at a decent hour.
